Victory In Rowlett: We Flipped a Blue Seat Red!
December 10, 2023

And it was a landslide. Saturday night, conservative candidate Jonathan Reaves won his runoff against Democrat Kellie McKee 56.48% to 43.52%, turning a seat on the Rowlett City Council that was blue to red! We could not be prouder of Reaves. In a crowded field, Reaves came in second in the special election on November 7th. But that put him into a runoff in a head-to-head race with McKee.

The Dallas County Republican Party weighed in heavily on the Rowlett special election, utilizing a strong messaging campaign to get voters out for Reaves. The DCRP used its newly developed data to message conservatives throughout Rowlett, letting them know about the runoff and reminding them to get out and vote for Reaves.  He did an excellent job of communicating his conservative values to those who shared them and inspired his fellow voters to get to the polls! There are no such things as non-partisan elections.

Meeting with Texas Secretary of State, Jane Nelson
November 29, 2023

Yesterday, I traveled to Austin to meet with Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson with Dallas GOP Election Integrity Chair, Wes Bowen, Senator Tan Parker, who helped facilitate the meeting, and well-known election integrity expert Russ Ramsland.  We met face-to-face with Secretary Nelson and her senior staff for well over an hour. The specific purpose of the visit was to discuss the E-Pollbook failures and/or manipulation that Dallas County experienced in the November 2022 Midterms and again in the November 2023 Constitutional Election. It is just the beginning of an in-depth discussion about the vulnerability of machine voting.  The goal is to set the path for elections in regionally combined precinct centers that have hand-counted paper ballots.

The E-Pollbook Saga Continues
November 11, 2023

Here we go again . . .   You may recall my December 9, 2022, blog titled “It Is Time to Get Rid of Black Box Voting” (click to read). You may also recall the issues we had on the November 8, 2022, Election Day voting with the E-Pollbooks surging at the close of the voting polls – far in excess of the number of voters who checked in at the locations.  History is repeating itself.

Forgive and Forget
September 18, 2023

These are words that we live by as people of Faith.  But these are words that too many of us forget to live by politically. Forgiving and forgetting should be at the foremost of our minds today, after suffering through the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton.  Our Dallas County Republican Party Executive Committee condemned the State House impeachment procedure – for good reason.  Impeachment should be an extreme remedy and not tossed around lightly as we have seen too often as of late.  To push an impeachment through a legislative body in a few hours at the end of a long legislative session on the heels of criticism of the House Speaker’s sobriety on the floor does not seem to me to be prudent. Let’s be honest, it just looks like retaliation.

Now we move on. As Republicans protecting the great State of Texas, we must unite and move on. We cannot allow Democrats, the media, and even ourselves to get in the way of uniting all conservatives across our county, state and country.

SCOTUS Made for an Extra Happy Independence Day This Year
July 28, 2023

Arguably, President Trump’s most important accomplishment was the appointment of three mostly very solid Supreme Court judges, so-say the three big rulings that came down at the very end of June.  While most readers here will have seen at least the headlines, some texture could come in handy to help educate the CNN watchers or New York Times readers with whom you might cross paths!

Texas SB14 Passes In Texas House
May 15, 2023

What a huge success for Texas children! Republican Party Legislative Priority "Ban Gender Modification" in the form of SB 14 passes the House 87- 56 in spite of huge protests in the House Gallery, which delayed it twice. Friday, May 12, 2023.  This day should be respected as the day on which an extremely courageous Democrat, Shawn Thierry stood up for children all over Texas and stood strong against the horrors of surgically or medically mutilating children who do not have the developed maturity to make decisions of this nature.

One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, With Justice for All
April 21, 2023

We constantly hear cries that the Democrats are always united and Republicans are seen as bickering.  In some ways that is true.  It is nothing new and has been going on for many years.  You have all heard me say “The best thing about Republicans is that they are each fiercely independent, and the worst thing about Republicans is that they are each fiercely independent.”  On this we can probably all agree.  But, as we embark on what is likely to be a lively Republican Presidential Primary, we need to reflect on why, at the end of the day, we must be united.  And, that is to preserve our Republic, freedom and the American culture.  We, as Republicans are in a fight to preserve our way of life in our country.

All Americans Must Stand!
March 30, 2023

This blog is not a Republican blog.  It is not a conservative blog.  It is an American blog.  The weaponization of the legal system to advance any political agenda, let alone a radical political agenda, is not just political persecution – it is un-American.  Those who hate President Trump, hate American values.  They hate you, and they hate me.  They hate patriotism – and they do not care whether you are Republican, Democrat or Independent.  They have an agenda.

For the first time ever the Dallas County Republican Party is openly committed to Local Elections for Municipal and School Board races.  It all begins at the local level!  We've gathered a core group of candidates all across Dallas County for which we are proudly supporting to reverse the liberal stranglehold on the City of Dallas and surrounding Dallas County.

Every Vote Counts - Don't Waste Yours
March 17, 2023

We have all heard the saying: “Every Vote Counts.” And, it could not be more true than in local municipal and school board elections.  Why?  Because very few people vote, making your vote even more powerful.  In the last municipal election cycle throughout Dallas County, less than 7% of the registered voters actually voted. LESS THAN 7%!  While that does not seem possible, it is the reality.  And of those who voted, Democrats show up on a much larger scale than Republicans.

Given the critical importance of local elections, it is very hard to understand the apathy of any voters, let alone conservative voters.  The decisions of our City Council, particularly in our weak Mayor system, affect our daily lives more than many of the national issues we hear about in the media.  In fact, many of the landmark federal policies in this country have emanated from the local level.

We must be active at the local level to hold out elected officials accountable, stop policies we do not agree with, and create the change that we want not only at home, but throughout the country.

The Frontline in the Fight for Honest Elections
March 03, 2023

It is that time, again. We are recruiting Election Judges for 2023.

Yes, for the upcoming May 6th Local Election but also to become “appointed judges” through Dallas County Commissioners Court later this summer; something we do every two years. This cycle is important because it set the roster of anointed judges that will be in place for the 2024 Primary and General Election.

Good, trained, and strong Election Judges, both Presiding Judges and Alternate Judges are the "first team" in holding fair and transparent elections in Dallas County. They are the bulwark against malfeasance in the way elections are conducted. They are our frontline and a critical part of the conduct of all elections.

Why We Fight
February 24, 2023

We have focused on supporting our families, raising our children, and worshipping our God in whatever form that may be.  We voted for those we thought were doing their jobs for the good of the whole community and left them to discover that they had incredible power to do the bidding of a few.  Their 'job' ended up being just a facade for their 'agenda'.  Incrementally, they pushed 'their' agenda into whatever nook and cranny they could find a place to drive a wedge.  The City of Dallas and Dallas County once were strong Republican strongholds.

It is important to understand why we fight to stop the damage done in Dallas County.  Please VOTE for your City Council and School Board Candidates on May 6.  Know your candidates.  Get informed and involved.  Save our Cities and Schools.

Stay tuned.

The Great Biden Balloon Beclownment

In what appears to be a rush to deflect from the fiasco of the Chinese Spy Balloon affair, Biden tried to show that he could fling missiles around with the best of them.

Hilarity ensued.

Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment
February 10, 2023

On Monday, February 6th we celebrated the 112th birthday of Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. More than just a nostalgic look back to a dearly loved Republican and father of the modern conservative movement, now is a great time to reconsider one of his famous speeches.

Ronny was a famous Party builder. He had to be because the Republican Party was the minority at the time.

On April 1, 1967 then Governor Ronald Reagan of California delivered an address to the California Republican Assembly at the Lafayette Hotel, Long Beach, CA. He called the California Republican Assembly, “the Conscience of the Republican Party.” The CRA is a conservative California Republican activist group. It is the oldest and largest grassroots volunteer organization chartered by the California Republican Party.

In today’s blog, I want to replay the text of the last half of his address because it is so appropriate for today.

Building the Republican Party in Dallas County!
February 03, 2023

Republicans are considerably outnumbered in Dallas County!  Therefore, it is incumbent on us to begin to seek out and register Republican voters and then get them to the polls on election day. When 50,000 Katrina survivors came to Dallas County in 2005 for refuge, we welcomed them with open arms, thinking that they would gradually return to their native New Orleans and continue rebuilding their homes and lives. They fell in love with Dallas and stayed here, bringing almost all staunch Democrat voters permanently.  In 2006 our Republican majority Judicial Court Judges were swept out of office and replaced with Democrats.  We've not yet been able to reverse that trend.

There are many ways to register new voters in Dallas County!  The first step is to begin with training and certification from Dallas County Elections Department.  We will be holding Deputy Voter Registrar training at DCRP HQ on Saturday, February 11 at 10:00 am.  Requiring only an hour of your time, you will leave with your full certification to register voters.  Come and join us!

We need you now more than ever for change!  It is imperative you know for WHOM you are voting and can ask the hard questions regarding what kind of leadership they can provide.  These candidates will not have an R or a D by their names, but having a conversation with them will help you choose.  If you don't heed the call to run for office, then volunteer to block walk, make phone calls, and contribute to your candidates' campaigns.  Our website calendar will be filled with candidate meet & greets and offer you an opportunity to ask them questions about what issues are concerning to YOU and your family.  This will be a very low-turnout election and just a few votes will vastly affect the outcomes.  Please make your vote count with informed decisions.

It is Time to Push the 88th Texas Legislative Session For Additional Election Integrity Support
January 20, 2023

We all have concerns about election integrity that are deeply rooted and long abiding. In Dallas County, after a year and a half of making election integrity one of the prime points of focus for the Dallas County Republican Party, we have made significant strides forward in Dallas County. No, we’re not yet fully where we need to be, so we should (and will) continue with our focus and intensity to restore trust in elections.

It is time, once again, to make our collective voices heard in the Texas Legislature in order to make further improvements in all election integrity matters in Texas. Many of the needed steps forward are going to require legislation.

Bus Trip to Austin
January 13, 2023

Over 81% of Republicans chose in our March 1 Primary that their #5 Legislative Priority would be to ban the common practice of appointing members of the minority party as Committee Chairs. It was affirmed by the delegates attending the Republican Party of Texas State Convention in Houston this past June.

To support the Legislative Priority of appointing, Republican County Parties (including the Dallas County Republican Party) from all over Texas chartered buses and formed car caravans to convey hundreds of grassroots Republicans to Austin to meet with our Representatives and fill the Gallery in the House. Over 600 wore red t-shirts to make ourselves visible. You can see us in the Gallery in the attached photo.  Over 1,000 attended and made their voices heard.

Along the way something happened.

The 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature Begins Tuesday
January 06, 2023

One of my favorite pieces of Texas slang such as the contraction of the past participle of the word “do.” “Doin’s” usually denotes important events and “big doin’s” means something important as “all git-out.” Our legislators meet for 140 days every two years and they are “fix’n” to start next Tuesday to “git’r done.”

There is a lot of important work to be done in the upcoming 88th Legislative Session. There will be many bills filed, debated, and voted. Some will be big legislation, some small. All will be important because it is the State’s business. To put the focus on our priorities, there are the eight legislative priorities of the Republican Party of Texas.

Okay, Texas Representatives and Senators, git’r done! “Texas are ready and rarin’ so go right quick

Introducing the Restoring Trust in Elections Project
December 16, 2022

We clearly struck a chord with last Friday’s blog posting of December 9th! The article is resonating with people throughout and well beyond Dallas County.

I have been contacting other County Chairs and I can tell you that we are not alone! There are plenty of other counties that are facing the same lack of trust in voting machine issues that Dallas County is facing, and I am working to lead a coalition do something about it.

Texas needs to lead the charge in fixing the voting machine problem that faces many counties and states across our nation.

It Is Time to Get Rid of Black Box Voting
December 09, 2022

Dallas County like much of Texas has very real problems with our current voting systems. After three years of diligent effort, we strongly believe that our current generation of voting equipment and processes have failed to win the trust of a large part of the public. We have tried to work with these systems but no longer think that these can be made trustworthy.

We strongly believe that we can’t put our votes at risk any further.

We simply must get opaque voting systems (those that are not transparent) out of our election systems. That means no machines with modems or internet connections of any kind.

The Penalties for Refusing To Participate In Politics
December 02, 2022

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors” – Plato

Every two years about 9,000 delegates are chosen to attend the Republican Party of Texas State Convention.  We spend hours on the floor debating which legislation we feel is most critical to pass to retain Republican Leadership in Texas.  We send these Priorities to our Republican Legislators and have, up until 2018, sat back and expected our elected officials to pass a significant part of our priorities.  There was always the shrug of the shoulders with the excuse "We just ran out of time.  We'll try again next session. Always "next time." Despite having been one of the top priorities for many sessions, Constitutional Carry was only passed after the 10,000 phone calls of grassroots activists refused to let up and finally made their synced voices heard did success happen in the last 87th Legislative Session with HB 1927.

The ‘Tween Season in Politics
November 22, 2022

The Dallas County Republican Party has a lot going on right now. The election didn’t end our work, it just caused it to reorient and shift gears. This is the ‘tween season in politics.

We are ending one election cycle while gearing up for the next. For a short period, it is totally normal to be in both cycles at the same time. Neither of the two cycles has a clean edge where one ends and the other begins. Instead, the edges overlap. Where they overlap is the ‘tween season.

This work is typical of every election. Even while we are ending one election, other work is beginning on the next even before the recent election is finalized and certified. As a result, we're 'tweening.

Also, actual governing begins early in the new cycle. This also contributes to the ‘tween season.

A Long-Term Project and Big Leap
November 18, 2022

Much as we like to win elections, we recognize that Dallas County did not turn blue overnight and it will only turn back to red again if we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, roll up our sleeves and get back to work.

This is a long-term project, one that liberals took many years to accomplish, while we fooled ourselves into thinking that all we had to do is show up to vote every couple of years.  We have had many contributors who are blessed with different talents.  This is not a one-, two- or three-member team.  Over the past 15 months, we have accomplished many things and are very proud of what has been accomplished.

Texas Is a Red State but Dallas is a Blue County
November 15, 2022

There are Democrats in Texas! We know because we have a lot of them right here in Dallas County.

The last blog posting last Friday titled “Texas is a Red State” all but required me to add today’s posting as a corollary: Texas is Red but Dallas is Blue. I’m further compelled to finish the statement as a children's rhyme, “bunches of Democrats are in the county, what can you do?”

There are approximately 1.4-million registered voters in Dallas County. Currently, about 20% of them are Republicans and 46% of them are Democrats. The remainder, about 34%, are swing voters, also known as independents. If half of the swing votes break our way, we will still lose county-wide elections by 150,000 votes. This doesn’t require political calculus; it is just simple math; mechanics.

On November 8th, Republicans lost every county-wide race.

Republicans are the minority party in Dallas County; at least for now.

Texas Is a Red State
November 11, 2022

According to many in the press, Texas is turning purple. Yeah, sure, any day now.

Can we lay this trope to rest? Texas turning purple is a pipedream used to raise campaign funds from out-of-state donors. Texas is a red state. Texans know it; even the candidates know it but outside money from deep blue sources still pours into the state every election cycle.

These left-coast donors have become like Herman Melville's Ahab chasing his white whale, "to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." Dude, give it a rest. Texas really doesn't care what you think. Don't mess with Texas!

Don’t get me wrong, we like what these misspent campaign donations do for the State’s economy. Much of it gets spent here and we really appreciate the business. Lots of media buys, and lots of political consultants buying bigger boats and the latest Porsches. But the funds produce few political results of any consequence.

The upshot is that Republicans control the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the government of the State of Texas.

Live blogs, as the name implies, will be created and displayed live and in real time. They will be mostly text but will contain a fair number of pictures and some inline video as time allows. My objective is to inform you of key events and news as it occurs. Also, I will try to capture the excitement of voting operations and the Watch Party as we begin to get information for local, state and national results.

Democrats, Well There’s Your Problem
November 04, 2022

I’m not in the business of giving political advice to Democrats (as if they wanted it), but in this case, I can’t pass up the opportunity.

On Thursday, Breitbart moved a story titled: “Gavin Newsom Warns Democrats: ‘Red Wave’ Is Coming Tuesday”

In the story, the man with a lot of product in his hair is credited with making the following statement:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is warning fellow Democrats that a “red wave” is coming next Tuesday and that the party is not doing enough to compete with Republicans on “messaging.”

Well, Guv, it isn’t that the Democrats aren’t doing enough to compete with Republicans on messaging, the simple truth is that a LARGE portion of the electorate isn’t buying what the Democrats are selling!

Make-Believe Crashes into Reality
November 01, 2022

The Left's reliance on make-believe is unfettered. More to the point, it is their modus operandi.

Pretend that a war on our domestic energy industry will reduce gas prices.

Pretend that defunding and demoralizing the police will reduce crime.

Pretend that massive government spending will reduce inflation.

Pretend that ignoring the Constitution will make us better.

But, reality has a funny way of intruding on one’s make-believe world to make course corrections. That is the problem with make-believe worlds, at some point the thin walls of the bubble bursts and in crashes reality.

In our Constitutional Republic, reality asserts itself at the ballot box. Bubbles burst.

A Profound Act of Political Malpractice
October 28, 2022

The collective wisdom is that people can’t take their eyes off of a trainwreck; that we are hardwired to observe disasters as they happen A trainwreck holds a peculiar fascination for observers.

Well, personally, I reached my limit Tuesday night.

Like a lot of people, I tuned in to see the Pennsylvania Senate Debate between John Fetterman, the Democratic Lt. Governor of the state, and Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz on Tuesday night. This will be the only debate of the race. The Democrats think they have (or more accurately "had," until Tuesday night) a chance of flipping the seat.

The debate was too painful to watch to the end. I had to turn it off. It was a trainwreck that I simply could not watch for long. Fetterman didn't simply lose a debate, it was an act of self-immolation. Yes, Fetterman is the opposition for a race to control the Senate but watching Fetterman’s sad performance and self-destruction seemed dirty even if it was a political opponent.

November 2022 Election - Time For Change and Time to Choose

The Legislative Priority to Ban Democrat Committee Chairs
October 18, 2022

From a Texas Legislative Priority point-of-view we are being told by everyone that we “need to wait until we see who gets elected” before they are willing to commit to anything they might do once getting elected. The Legislative Priority for the Texas Legislature to Ban Democrat Committee Chairs is unique in that it is an issue that will be decided in the rules that are adopted on the second day of the session.  It is truly going to be our first look at those who support doing things differently than they have in the past and those that are more comfortable with the established ways, and results.

Because politics-as-usual is so tough to crack, we have to come up with new and creative ways to get the grassroots moving to affect the outcome.  We are all working to encourage the grassroots in our districts to turn out the Republican vote all the way down the ballot.  We should also be taking this opportunity to plant the seed that the reason to get our Republicans elected is so that they can work on the bills supporting our Legislative Priorities.

Bidenflation, the Cruelest Tax
October 14, 2022

Things are bigger in Texas. Unfortunately, that also now includes inflation. The inflation rate in DFW is higher than the national figures. In Dallas-Fort Worth, inflation remained above the U.S. average in September as higher utilities, rent, and food prices drove local inflation up 9.2% from a year ago.

When inflation really hits home is during trips to the grocery store (using gas that is harder to afford.) All of the food items in a shopping cart at your local mega mart are 10% above last year. Leading the pack, according to the Dallas Morning News on October 13th, fruits and vegetables are up 21.9% over last year. Only Daddy War Bucks can afford to tell Little Orphan Annie to eat her vegetables. The cost of "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" is really expensive healthcare advice.

Help Protect Election Integrity: Become a Poll Watcher
September 23, 2022

In summary, what do Poll Watchers do? Poll Watcher … well, first and foremost … watch. They then report their observations. That’s it in a nutshell. It is a noble calling.

Our volunteer Poll Watchers serve a vital role in the voting process by helping to protect election integrity in our Dallas County Voting Centers. Poll Watchers are the last line of protection in the elections process that helps ensure free, fair and legal elections. Poll Watchers simply observe voting operations and report any anatomies or irregulates up the chain to the DCRP Elections Integrity Committee for any action that may be necessary. The overall goal is to make sure elections in Dallas County are conducted according to Texas laws and the election code.

This year, the DCRP has more than doubled the size of our Poll Watcher corps and we are still recruiting new members. We want the November 8th General Election to be the most well-observed election ever.
