We're Looking for a Few Good Creative People

Do you have creative skills that you would like to contribute to helping the Dallas County Republican Party? If so, you can volunteer to help us with producing content for our new website.

We have creative assignments for writers, graphic artists, photographers, videographers and copyeditors. Experience level doesn't matter; experienced professionals, hobbyists or students are welcome. You all can find interesting, creative and fulfilling work that will greatly help the Dallas County Republican Party.

You can work as little or as much as you wish.

These are UN-PAID volunteer positions.

Your content will be featured on the new DCRP website and social media. You will support our editorial efforts for building new public content as well as the needs of the site's secure portals that support various committees. Our "beat" will be the Republican politics in Dallas County and the activities of our candidates.

You can work from home and working only in the evenings can easily be accommodated as well as any daypart that works for your schedule and the amount of time you can volunteer. We are very flexible. Most assignment meetings will be conducted remotely using Zoom, e-mail and phones. We will occasionally meet in person at DCRP headquarters. The team is organized much like the editorial department of an online magazine.

You will get to work with an experienced webmaster and creative director who is also a great teacher. If you have basic creative skills, you can learn "on the job."

You will be given assignments (a few or a lot depending on your availability) and any guidance you need to get started. You will be expected to do your own research on the subject of the assignment as needed and complete the assignment. Of course, help is available along the way as you need it. The work product from your completed assignment will be entered directly into our online workflow through a secure web portal.

Your work will feed our dynamic pages or, in many cases for feature content, will be placed on a custom-designed page executed for its purpose.

What we need most are writers and editors of the written word: (1) editorial/feature writers for 500 - 1,200 word articles on political subjects, (2) reporters/writers capable of conducting phone interviews of the organizers of GOP events and campaign events to collect event details (as well as attending some larger events in person), (3) social media writers capable of researching and writing great postings that will build traffic, and (4) copyeditor who can edit for both grammar and style so our copy is consistent and correct. For all writers, it will be a big plus if you know how to write for websites but if you don't, we will teach you.

The next biggest need is for people with computer graphics skills using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom or the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite (or its equivalent.)

Finally, we always have the need for photographers and videographers to cover the normal events that occur in an election year. You are welcome to use your own equipment from smartphones or professional gear. Skills in editing are a big plus but we also have skilled editors who can work with you.

Of course, this is an entirely volunteer effort conducted without pay. However, it will be fun and rewarding; your work will be acknowledged.

We are gearing up now for the coming election cycle. Candidates are filing for their races now. Some work can start immediately and it will rapidly build after New Year as the campaigns enter high gear.

If you are interested in joining the team, simply fill out and submit the secure form below. Bill Anderton will contact you immediately for an interview. Any samples or a portfolio you have will be a big help and can be attached to the form. However, don't feel that it is a requirement.
