Republicans Retain Control of the State Board of Education

With one race too close to call, Republicans have already won 9 of the 15 seats on the State Board of Education.

The remaining race is in District 2 in far South Texas along the Gulf Coast where Republican LJ Francis leads by approximately 1,500 votes with 93.6% of the estimated vote counted.

All seats on the 15-member SBOE were up for election this year after redistricting redrew the areas each member represented. The previous split among the SBOE was 9 Republicans and 6 Democrats. If we prevail in District 2, this will be a Republican gain; the SBOE will get redder.
