SD 16 Convention

Hello fellow Republicans, this is an important update and your third notice for those of you credentialed to attend and vote at the the SD-16 convention this coming Saturday March 28th and also for the Republican Party of Texas State Convention in Houston in June. Please read this email thoroughly. A final email will be sent on Friday with the program likely attached and some additional information & appointments.
You can attend as a delegate or an alternate to the SD-16 convention, only if you were selected as a delegate or alternate at your precinct convention.
If you would like to attend and you are not a delegate or an alternate, you may attend as guest. You must be on the list of Delegates submitted at the precinct convention, whether you attended in person or not, to be a voting delegate at the Senate District 16 Convention.
The Senate District 16 convention for 2026 will be held this Saturday at the La Prada Church of Christ. Check-in will start at 8am, and the convention will likely last through most of the afternoon, though we will try to finish as soon as we can. If you are not seated at the convention by the time that credentials is finished checking people in and seating delegates, we won’t be able to credential you so you can vote.
The Agenda follows RPT Rules for Senate District conventions. We recommend that you print the RPT platform at home and bring it with you if you need it, as there will be a limited number of copies available.
The 2026 Senate District 16 Convention

Parking
There is limited parking at the church. Once the parking lot is full, it will be blocked off. Please do NOT park in the grass, as this has done damage to their sod in the recent past. If the parking lot is full, you may park along the nearby street ‘Club View Cir’. See map below.
Check-In
When you get to the La Prada Church of Christ, you will check in at the desk set up by the Arrangements team and Credentials team in the foyer at the entry of the church.

Committee meetings:
Committee meetings will take place in the morning in designated spaces, which will be indicated on Saturday morning.
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE
The SD-16 Nominations committee has been meeting recently, and they are reviewing applications to attend the 2026 RPT State Convention. (You must have voted in the 2026 Republican Primary (or have completed an Oath of Affiliation) AND have applied to be a delegate to the RPT State convention).
The final nominations committee meeting is Saturday morning at the La Prada Church of Christ, starting no earlier than 8am. Interviews by applicants are essential in the process.

RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE
The Permanent Resolutions Committee will meet Saturday morning no earlier than 9:30 AM. The Temporary Resolutions has been doing much of their work this past week and the Permanent Committee will hear testimony and can accept resolutions affecting the state platform at this meeting. If you have a resolution that you want considered by the Permanent Resolutions/Platform Committee, you must submit it to the Convention Secretary, properly formatted, within 30 minutes of the Permanent Resolutions Committee being appointed. Please be prepared to email digital copies and bring at least 8 paper copies for the committee members. We estimate that the Permanent Resolutions Committee will be appointed no earlier than 9:30 AM.

LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES COMMITTEE
The Legislative Priorities Committee is a new committee, and RPT has mandated that every Senate District have an LP committee expected to produce at least one legislative priority. They have been doing much of their work this past week and will present the priorities to the convention for consideration.
