The New Dallas Chief of Police

Greetings, everyone! I want to offer my sincere appreciation for all those who came out for our 2025 DCRP Reagan Day Dinner last Friday evening. If there was any doubt about the COVID issue, our keynote speaker, US Senator Rand Paul left no doubt. As well, it was a real honor to host actor Isaiah Washington, a native Texan, who has recently moved here to Dallas. Lastly, thanks to the Reagan Day Dinner committee and volunteers who executed a flawless evening.

We are now in the final week of our municipal elections across Dallas County. I find it very interesting that one Congressman Jasmine Crockett is being advertised on flyers as making appearances at certain polling locations. It is quite obvious that the progressive socialist leftists in Dallas and Dallas County are a tad concerned. They should be, considering their abject failures, especially in the City of Dallas. However, they are still banking on a lack of enthusiasm and voter turnout from our constitutionally conservative side. As we have shared often, most local elections only see a 6-8 percent turnout, which is wholeheartedly unacceptable. If they are deploying the unstable member of Congress, Crockett, it is evidence that they are doing everything to enhance their turnout. Heck, I cannot think of any better motivation for us, than to have the person who stated that coming into the country illegally is not a crime.

With that being said, the first media availability interview with new Dallas Chief of Police, Daniel Comeaux, a former Special Agent-in-Charge of the Houston DEA, left much to be desired. As a matter of fact, WFAA who conducted the interview asserted, “New Dallas police chief didn’t answer questions about immigration policy, ballooning response times during first-day-on-job media availabilities.” You can read the article and watch the interview here.

As reported by WFAA:

“Dallas Police Department media relations staff interrupted some of WFAAs questions — including one about whether the new chief thought the Dallas HERO amendment was reasonable, whether DPDs call-response times are acceptable of what his department’s immigration policy will be under his watch — and prevented the new chief from responding to those questions by insisting the interview was only to get to know Comeaux.”

I guess the more appropriate questions should have been about his favorite color and food?

The DPD staff also limited media interviews to a maximum of five minutes. Sounds like a Joe Biden or Kamala Harris interview.

When asked about the challenges of violent crime in a major urban area, such as Dallas, Chief Comeaux responded, “Look, it’s day one. I’m gonna wrap my head around it, and we’re gonna do everything to keep all the residents safe.” As my former Division Commander and Army Chief of Staff, the now deceased General Gordon R. Sullivan would say, “hope is not a method.”

Why have a media day if you are not prepared to answer pertinent policy questions and have a “lifeline” being constantly thrown by an off camera staffer voice saying what you are not going to answer? Why take the podium with local media if you have not “wrapped your head around” the issues for which you have taken command?

This is why local elections are important. We know that the previous “interim” Dallas Police Chief, Michael Igo, publicly stated that he was not going to work with ICE to report and deport criminal illegal immigrants. Now we have the new Dallas Police Chief not just providing a response, but a media staffer telling the media that he is not going to respond to said question. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux has already proven that he is not going to enforce the law, but rather the ideological whims of the Dallas City Council by way of the Dallas City Manager to whom he reports. He may wear a badge, but it appears that he is not a servant of the citizens nor does he understand the code of honor to “protect and serve.”

This is why municipal elections are vital, and why our DCRP motto is “Fight Local, Win National.” The level of governance that most directly affects your life every day is the local level. I am imploring those of you reading this missive to get out and vote in your municipal elections. I did so within minutes of the polls opening on the first day of early voting last Tuesday. I witnessed firsthand the debacle with the new ePollbook systems that Dallas County Elections Administrator, Heider Garcia — a fella with a really questionable background — unilaterally selected and approved. You can read the letter DCRP sent to the Texas Secretary of State office last week after the first two days of early voting.

Barry Soetoro once quipped that elections have consequences. Yes, they do. If you continue down the path of apathy in your local elections, those consequences, and ramifications, will be quite severe to your safety and security.

Steadfast and Loyal.
