“The Wise Counsel of Herman “Buck” West”

| First of all, I just want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the prayers and well-wishes from so many over the past week. Last Monday, I underwent hip replacement surgery, and it was very successful. A special thanks to Dr. J. Stephen Appleton and the surgical staff who took care of my right hip situation. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in May of this year. My quality of life has indeed been restored—and also, a shout-out to TRICARE. Unlike Obamacare, my diagnosis, treatment, process, and procedure were affordable and effective. As I spent last week recovering and beginning the physical therapy process, I did keep my ear to the wall as the 2026 candidate filing period ended. And of course, the big news in Texas—and especially in the Dallas area—was that one member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Jasmine Crockett, filed to run for U.S. Senate from the State of Texas. I watched her announcement and, yes, requested an Ebonics translator—and just had to laugh. I take everyone seriously; after all, who would have thought an unaccomplished Marxist Islamic jihadist sympathizer would win the mayoral race in New York City? However, Crockett’s announcement reminded me of my dad, U.S. Army Corporal, World War II veteran Herman “Buck” West, and one of his favorite sayings: “Boy, never read your own press and don’t drink your own tub water, lest you get full of yourself.” The problem with leftists is that they do read their own press and become full of themselves—especially since they operate in a very defined echo chamber. Yes, it should not have been a surprise to any of us that Zohran Mamdani won in New York City, or that a Marxist female won in Seattle. However, for progressive socialist leftists to believe that they can drink from the waters of the Brazos River and flip Texas is, as Operation Market Garden was deemed, “a bridge too far.” I do not say this flippantly because, as I have previously written, Texas is following the path of other red states. When major urban population centers fall under the spell of Marxist leftism—even in red states—it is cause for concern. Undoubtedly, this is exactly the political calculus upon which someone like Robert Francis O’Rourke, and now Jasmine Crockett, depend. We all know that O’Rourke came rather close to defeating Texas Senator Ted Cruz—2.3%, as a matter of fact. Yes, there were some very extenuating circumstances in that race. But consider this: six years later, Cruz cruised to victory over Colin Allred by nearly 10%, while Donald Trump went from a 6% victory in 2020 to a 15% victory in 2024 in Texas. The focus of the Crockett campaign will no doubt be in the major population centers of Dallas (Dallas County), Houston (Harris County), Austin (Travis County), San Antonio (Bexar County), and El Paso (El Paso County). From there, she will certainly ascertain the areas where she can garner “enough” blue support to coincide with her solid blue base. There is no debate that Crockett will struggle in East and West Texas. I do not think the Green New Deal (steal) will play well in the Permian Basin. But even in South Texas, along the Rio Grande River Valley (RGV), it may prove difficult for an open-borders leftist like Crockett to find success. After all, in 2024, 12 of 14 border counties flipped to Donald Trump. Yes, I know—Trump is not on the ballot—but the issues of illegal immigration, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and drug trafficking still are. Furthermore, demonizing Border Patrol and ICE in South Texas is not exactly popular; many of them are Hispanic law enforcement officers. So, Rep. Jasmine Crockett tells Colin Allred to move outta da way and go run for Congress. “I am running for Senate in Texas,” she declares—and the few people in that echo chamber did not dare to tell the empress that she had no clothes on. Will Crockett raise lots of money? Sure—so did Robert Francis. Will Crockett gain even more national media attention? Sure—so did Bob Frank. Will Crockett expose herself as an unaccomplished, incompetent leftist mouthpiece, just like Kamala Harris? Yep. And will the left do their same ol’, same ol’ and try to guilt-trip folks by claiming that if you do not vote for Jasmine Crockett, it is because you’re racist—just like they did with Obama and Harris? Absolutely. But that well is dry, and no one is falling for that trick ever again. Jasmine Crockett is running purely on a cult of personality, just as Mamdani did—and as most leftists have, going back to Barry Soetoro, a.k.a. Barack Hussein Obama. This time, however, the issues are just too clearly delineated—especially on the economy, energy, domestic and national security, the border, and life, born and unborn. No one wants to hear about biological males playing in girls’ sports or grooming our children. I would say that the first question I would ask Rep. Crockett, if I were a debate moderator, is: “Rep. Crockett, do you support educational freedom and parental choice in education?” And that question would follow my reading of the statistics on reading comprehension and math achievement in her current congressional district. Rep. Jasmine Crockett has spent too much time reading her own press, watching her own YouTube videos, and drinking her own tub water. Republicans need not go down the path of assailing her over petty foolishness—just stick to the issues, the facts, and heat up some popcorn. Steadfast and Loyal. |
