“Time to Pick your Team”

“Time to Pick your Team”
First of all, Happy President’s Day, this month we remember and celebrate the birthdays of three iconic American Presidents — George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan, all both in this month…along with yours truly. As we enjoy a holiday, it is also imperative that we not forget that tomorrow begins the March 2026 primary election in the Lone Star State. Sadly, primary elections do not have a great voter turnout, especially in midterm election cycles. At least they enjoy a better voter turnout than municipal level elections, which will come in May this year.

So, why do we have primary elections?

I remember growing up in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood in Atlanta. It was an inner city community and you could easily see the downtown skyscrapers from our neighborhood. But, it was a quiet community, certainly by today’s standards, for an urban area. Those were the days when you could leave in the morning, especially on a Saturday, carrying your basketball, and go to the nearby corner hoops courts…of course after you had done your morning chores. It was there where we would gather, first to arrive had “first dibs” on hitting the court. And those who would arrive later would have to call “next up”. It was an honor system and you waited your turn to get picked as a new team was organized to take on the winning team, and I am talking about 3 on 3 basketball, maybe 4 on 4, but always half court.

This Tuesday, it will be time for us, the citizens, constituents, to pick our team for the electoral contest that will occur in November. And in this 250th anniversary of American Independence, the stakes could not be any higher. Texas must have a winning team to ensure that this Lone Star continues to illuminate the other 49 stars on our American flag. It must be a strong principled and resolute team of constitutional conservatives who are not seeking to compromise, acquiesce, or appease the ever present Marxist leftists who aim to “fundamentally transform” Texas, and America.

If there is one thing Republicans must come to grasp is that you cannot bring a plastic spoon to a gunfight. The leftists are playing for keeps and they realize the importance of Texas. As well, their comrade Islamic jihadists have joined forces to create the Red-Green alliance that will undermine individual liberty, or as the Marxist islamist Zohran Mamdani stated, replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism. How funny, considering that (19) homeless in New York City recently froze to death because of Mamdani’s collective warmth.

And it is not just that Republicans have the opportunity to select their champions, Gladiators, we also have the ability to shape the legislative priorities for the next Texas legislative session, in 2027. There are ten proposals, and I will admit, the last one, #10, is the most important. Proposal number ten is a simple Yes or No, “Texas should prohibit Sharia Law”. Why is that vital, because we cannot allow any other system of jurisprudence to exist in Texas, in America, other than our rule of law, being our State, or US, Constitution. It is imperative that there is an 85+% support to this legislative proposal, as we go into the Republican Party of Texas convention in June. That will send a message to the team that you pick in this primary.

If you are not familiar with the ten RPT legislative proposals, you can see them here. If you are not aware of the candidates that will appear on the ballot in Dallas County, you can find that here.

This is where our precinct chairs are critical, it is their responsibility to better inform and educate Republicans in their precinct…as well as turn out the vote. Also, we are going back to precinct voting and not the countywide voting that is replete with issues. That will occur on election day, Tuesday March 3rd and we will have the listing of precincts and voting locations. Everyone should have received their new orange Dallas County voter registration card.

This is it, you can sit back and yell at the TV screen, or get involved, and engage. The great Greek philosopher Plato once said, “One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors”. Benjamin Franklin asserted simply, “It’s a Republic, if you can keep it”.

How amazingly prescient.

Steadfast and Loyal.
