Who Are the True Republicans in the Room?

This legislative session has been a profound disappointment for freedom living citizens across Texas. We sent Republican representatives to Austin to fight for our values: limited government, individual liberty, secure borders, medical freedom, and fiscal responsibility. But sadly, not all who wear the Republican label are living up to those expectations. Some are actively undermining the conservative agenda from within our own party.

Conservative champions like Rep. Brian Harrison have made it their mission to uphold Republican priorities. He has consistently pushed for meaningful reforms, stood strong against woke ideology, and voted in line with the Texas GOP platform. But if you look at the legislative voting patterns, it’s shocking who’s standing in his way. Republicans like Rep. Morgan Meyer and Rep. Angie Chen Button, both in Dallas County, are two such examples.

According to one of the best resources for analyzing legislation and assessing state representatives’ and state senators’ conduct during the legislative session, Grassroots Priorities, Rep. Morgan Meyer disagrees with Rep. Harrison 43 percent of the time, and Angie Button disagrees with him 42 percent of the time. We urge you to view the the Grassroots Priorities data for yourself:

When you examine whom Meyer and Button disagree with the most, you’ll notice a disturbing trend—their top ten opponents aren’t Democrats. They’re fellow Republicans. That means these so-called “Republicans” are standing in opposition to the conservative wing of their own party more often than to the Democrats themselves. Let that sink in.

Now compare that to the records of true conservative fighters like Sen. Bob Hall and Sen. Tan Parker. When you look at their voting records, not that we are happy that they voted for School Choice and voted against holding the SOS accountable to following the Texas Election Code – because we are not, you’ll see that their top ten disagreements are, as expected, with Democrats—not fellow Republicans. That’s what you’d expect from leaders who genuinely stand for conservative principles:

So here’s the real question: Who’s the true Republican in the room? Is it the representative who stands shoulder to shoulder with freedom loving citizens and fights for the party platform planks—or those who side with Democrats almost half the time and oppose conservative Republicans way too much?

This is not just a matter of partisanship. It’s about accountability. If elected Republicans can’t be trusted to support the conservative values they campaigned on, then voters have every right to question their loyalty to the people they represent.

We can no longer afford to reward weak leadership, complacency, or quiet cooperation with the leftists. Texas is too important. The stakes are too high. It’s time we start calling out the wolves in sheep’s clothing—and demanding better from those who claim to represent us. Or perhaps it’s time to replace them. We report, you decide.
