“When Men were Men”
| “When Men were Men” |
I am the Dad of two daughters and it was a great responsibility for me to be an exemplary example of a Man to them. And I know that my own Dad, World War II veteran Herman West Sr., accepted that responsibility for his three sons, of which I was the middle. My Mom ingrained in me an understanding about what it meant to be a Man. One of her lessons to me was, “A man must stand for something, or else he will fall for anything”. I guess those who see me as too highly principled can just blame my parents for that…then again, I refer to a great quote from Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson once stated, “In matters of style swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock”, that quote sits front and center on the desk of my home office. Growing up I had the blessing of being in the presence of Men, men of faith, commitment, and impeccable character. My Godfather was a Tuskegee Airman, William “Sticky” Jackson. The phenomenal pastors in my Church…Reverends Grier, Stovall and Ennis. I served with men in my military career who were role models. This year, 2026, we will remember and celebrate Men of principle who stood like rocks. Last year we celebrated the men who took the field of Lexington Green. The Men who gave birth, and joined, our United States Army, United States Navy, and United States Marine Corps. And of course, in remembering those Men, we must honor the Women, who gave birth to them and taught them the same lesson my Mom, Elizabeth Thomas West, taught me…and married them, like my wife, Dr. Angela Graham-West, herself the daughter of a two tour Vietnam veteran who is laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. In this year, we remember those Men, who 250 years ago established this great Nation with the Declaration of Independence. As well, those of us who reside here in Texas will celebrate 190 years of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. We should not dismiss the impeccable documents that these men left to us, but there is also a huge responsibility for men today, and women, to cherish the liberty, freedom, and rights that many before us, and still today, sacrifice to maintain. However, I find it abjectly absurd that last week the highest court in our land, the only court established by the US Constitution, heard a disturbing case. The case of Kecox v Little, along with an accompanying case out of West Virginia, to determine if biological males should compete in women’s athletics. How in God’s name did we get to a point where we are confused about what a Man is, and what a Woman is? Gender dysphoria is a mental condition, so why are we “arguing” about exclusivity for individuals suffering from a mental condition. And more importantly, who are these deranged people pushing such an agenda…to include adult parents. It is not caring for a child to allow them to walk off a cliff into an abyss of despair, depression, and dismay. It is not inclusivity to accept that which is biologically unreasonable and unscientific. The delusion of the progressive leftists to redefine the sexes into their ideological agenda, who are CIS people? I will admit that when my daughters were competing in sports, if some boy had tried to compete against them I would have stood up and defended them. Why are we sacrificing our children to this nonsense and offering their bodies up for mutilation? It is unconscionable that there are some (19) Democrat states, Attorney Generals, who are bringing a lawsuit against the Trump administration because they want to mutilate the bodies of children…albeit that anyone under the age of 18 cannot get a tattoo. I find it hard to believe that in the greatest Nation that the world has known, somehow there is confusion about men and women. And where are the women who advocated for women’s rights? Why is there such deafening silence? Are they willing to sacrifice the future of young women in America for a demented, demonic, ideological agenda? As a Man, and Dad to two adult daughters, I will take a stand, on principle, and not allow their freedoms, rights, privacy, to be infringed upon by anyone suffering from a mental condition. There are just two sexes and there are some very clear differences between the two. As a Christian man, I see this as a direct assault by the secular humanist leftists against the omnipotence and omniscience of our Judeo-Christian faith heritage God, the Creator. If the left can convince us that God was not great enough to have created Man and Woman, that we can recreate ourselves in any image that we desire. Then how can that same Creator God be the one to endow you with your Natural Rights of life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness), the foundation of our American Declaration of Independence. What the left is seeking to do is establish themselves, government, as a higher authority, following along the beliefs of Karl Marx. We are not beings made in the image of God, but whatever image that the government allows you to be…and sadly there are those in the medical community who see this as a beneficial cash cow. The case heard by the SCOTUS last week has great ramifications for our Nation, especially in its 250th year of Independence. The idea that an entire State, Nation, can be forced into cowering to a mental condition is absurd. Telling people that, under the threat of the law, they must succumb to the delusion of others under the guise of rights and inclusion is totalitarian. I for one shall not jump into the sandbox of lunacy, will you? This whole leftist movement is immoral, unethical, irresponsible, unscientific, unreasonable, and endangers women and our children. Let us return to a time when Men were Men, and we understood that. And no, I am not talking about another leftist talking point, toxic masculinity, but a return to men of faith, honor, integrity, character, and principle. That is something we should consider in this midterm election cycle. I find it incredibly laughable that a woman who could not define what a woman is, now sits on our United States Supreme Court to hear a case about a biological male competing against women. I hope we can elect women to be representatives of us, who at least know that they are women. Steadfast and Loyal. |
