DALLAS, TX—The Dallas County Republican Party (DCRP) unanimously passed two important resolutions at its County Executive Committee meeting Monday evening and has invited the Dallas County Democratic Party to join in the effort.

The first resolution involves supporting the non-partisan Dallas HERO’s initiatives to increase annual revenues prioritizing public safety objectives such as hiring more police officers, providing competitive compensation, and funding the strained Dallas Police & Fire Pension System.

It also includes an amendment holding city and government officials accountable, such as the City Manager.

“The unanimous vote of the Dallas County GOP Executive Committee shows our commitment to holding government officials at all levels accountable, especially local,” DCRP Chairman Allen West said. “It is imperative that the arrogance of officialdom is not tolerated.”

The second resolution passed calls on the State Fair of Texas to immediately rescind its recent decision to ban the carrying of firearms.

“You don’t respond to criminal activity and behavior by restricting the constitutional rights of legal, law-abiding citizens,” said Chairman West. “The State Fair of Texas’ decision to disarm Texans is not consistent with Texas values and regard for individual safety and security.”

In an effort to draw attention to these important issues, Chairman West is asking the Dallas Democratic Party to join in the effort.

“I ask that the Dallas County Democratic Party join with us in passing these resolutions supporting the Dallas HERO city charter amendments and calling on the State Fair of Texas to reverse its unconstitutional decision. Failure to do so would be quite telling.”
