How to Win the Hispanic Vote: How Republican Senator Adam Hinojosa Won His Senate Seat in South Texas with the Hispanic Vote
Held during Hispanic Heritage Month, this luncheon will examine the growing political and civic importance of Texas’ Hispanic community and the role Hispanic voters played in Senator Adam Hinojosa’s historic 2024 election in South Texas.
Hispanic Texans are central to the story of modern Texas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Hispanics comprise approximately 41% of the state’s population, making them Texas’ largest racial or ethnic population group.
Senator Hinojosa’s election offers a timely case study of political participation in South Texas. Elected to the Texas Senate in 2024, Hinojosa became the first Republican to represent Senate District 27 since Reconstruction.
Taking place during Hispanic Heritage Month, the luncheon will explore the changing demographics of Texas, the diversity of Hispanic communities and voters, and the political dynamics surrounding Hinojosa’s campaign and election. “Adam Hinojosa was elected to the Texas State Senate in 2024, making history as the first Republican to represent District 27 since Reconstruction. A proud fourth-generation Texan with family roots dating back to 1874, Senator Hinojosa represents a diverse and dynamic region along the southern Gulf Coast.
