Happy New Year . . . the Battle Continues

I pray everyone enjoyed a very nice Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year!

Sadly, New Year in America started with a reminder that the battle continues, and that our streets have become a battleground. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their loved ones in the terrorist attack in New Orleans. We pray for those who were injured and are fighting for their lives. This should serve as a wake-up call that we must remain resolute and vigilant in these times. We have been exposed to this outgoing Biden-Harris administration that has opened up our borders and coddled supporters of Islamic terrorist groups. It was not too long ago that ISIS was decimated and our border was secure. We must return to those policies. Yes, November 5, 2024, was a monumental victory for America, and indeed, the world. However, in 2025, we here in Dallas County must be as engaged as ever.

We have the start of our biennial Texas legislative session, the 89th. In fact, a group from Dallas County will travel to Austin for Opening Day to let our legislators know that we want principled, conservative Republicans as committee chairs. If you would like to secure a spot on our bus, see the information here.

Also, in May, we will have our local municipal elections. It is imperative that we have the same amount of enthusiasm and involvement as we “Fight Local” to sustain our winning nationally.

We are standing up a DCRP Legislative Priorities committee headed up by Beth Biesel. She has my full confidence and understands her task and purpose to inform, educate, and activate our Dallas County electorate on this 89th legislative session. Too often we focus solely on the national level and pay no attention to what is happening here in the Lone Star State. We have a majority in the Texas State House, Senate, and control the Lt. Gov. and Governor positions. Then why do we have so-called Republicans who seek power-sharing with leftists? The coming vote for Texas Speaker of the House will be an indicator as to the governing of that body politic. We will be paying attention to how our local Republican State House members vote, and there will be consequences for betrayal.

I fail to understand political cowardice. It is time that Republicans in Texas govern as constitutional conservatives. Needless to say leftists in California do not grant like privilege to Republicans there.

As well, over the Christmas season, I had a great meeting with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson to discuss the coming municipal elections. First of all, this low turnout figure for municipal elections is no longer acceptable. We will be involved across Dallas County in key elections, especially in the City of Dallas. The Mayor and I agreed that it is time that the acclaimed donor class stop being concerned with their self-interests and supporting progressive socialists. These are the people who donate millions to national out-of-state candidates yet watch — and enable — the destruction of their own backyard. We have a strategy and do not need to compete with hand-selected candidates from special interests. DCRP has a Candidate Recruitment Committee, and we want to get behind strong individuals and not dilute support.

On that note, any DCRP Executive Committee member affiliated with the imposter PAC organization shadowing our efforts will not have access to DCRP resources or office, and will not be recognized to speak at CEC meetings. You know who you are, and so do we. Your efforts to undermine this organization will not be tolerated.

Going into the new year we have some leadership positions that will change, effective as of January 1st. I already mentioned Beth Biesel who will be heading up our Legislative Priorities committee. Our DCRP financial compliance team member, Fred Tate, will also assume duties as our DCRP Treasurer. I want to thank Allan Toole for the outstanding job he did from June to December last year in that role. Fred brings a wealth of experience. Susan Cumby, who did a phenomenal job as our Elections Oversight Committee Chair, will assume duties as our DCRP Secretary replacing Amy Lee who was a consummate professional in the keeping of our minutes. Barry Wernick will step in as our Resolutions Committee Chair and we wish Chris Klement all the best as he continues to serve on our CEC and with A Better Dallas.

Lastly, I want to put a plug in for our coming Lincoln-Reagan dinner which will be held sometime between the end of March and early April. Thanks to all of you who came out to support our DCRP Christmas Party and heard an incredible address from incoming Trump administration Border Czar Tom Homan. We humbly ask that you continue to support the DCRP.

Put the first Tuesday in May on your calendar! That is the day for municipal elections in Dallas County. Our goal is to have the highest-ever voter turnout and elect Republicans to city council, local mayoral, and other critical seats. Precinct Chairs are integral to that success!

Steadfast and Loyal.
