Kamala Harris and Identity Politics

Good Monday morning everyone!

I pray that your August is off to a great start. As for me, August 1st was the 20th anniversary of my retirement from the US Army.

Perhaps some of you may ask, what is the purpose of these weekly missives? It is not about listing calendar events, which you can find on our DallasGOP.org website. It is about sharing information enabling us, as Dallas County constitutional conservatives, to be on message.

Sadly, we are right back contending with the same ol’ message about identity politics.

I have often shared with candidates that there are two phases to a candidate’s campaign. They are the image and message phases. It cannot be refuted that Republicans have a far better message that focuses on the rule of law and economic empowerment, not enslavement. However, the progressive socialist left focuses totally on the image, as their objective is to connect emotionally. Remember Bill Clinton’s “I feel your pain?” Joe Biden was cast aside by the Democrats because his image was no longer viable, it had no utility. So now, just the same as with Barack Hussein Obama, the focus will be completely on the image of Kamala Harris. Remember it was Obama who described himself as a “blank slate” upon which people can draw as they wish. Hmm, I call that a shapeshifter.

Such is the case with Kamala Harris. The media has made a monumental effort in covering for the Vice President such as saying she was never the Border Czar. Can that be a successful strategy? Yes, with lower information voters.

Last week during the “Mornings with Maria” program on Fox Business News, the host was interviewing Democrat strategist and pollster Mark Penn who stated, “At this point, issues do not matter.” This is what the Democrats are hoping for. That this presidential contest can be boiled down to likability. I have already received calls from folks in Georgia saying that there is a big push to make reparations a major issue. Of course, Georgia is a critical battleground state, and the goal is to coalesce Black community support in the Atlanta-Fulton County metropolitan area.

How do we combat that Santa Claus message?

First of all, do not become burdened by believing that we must win over everyone. But there are common denominators for all communities, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian. Those common points are being able to afford groceries and gas. People want safer communities, not the release of violent criminals back onto the streets. People do not want the threats and dangers resulting from open borders: crime from illegals, human and sex trafficking, drug trafficking, and terrorist threats. In the Black community, the best “reparation” would be educational choice and freedom for parents, and the restoration of the traditional nuclear family. In every case, these are critical issue points the Democrat Party stands against.

There is this reticence to engage on the issue of dismembering unborn babies in the womb. But understand, the founder of Planned Parenthood was a white supremacist, racist, and spoke at KKK rallies. Her organization has been the greatest taker of life in the Black community. As well, conducting such heinous procedures up to the time of birth is infanticide, and sadly, there are sanctuaries for infanticide being established in blue states, like New Mexico.

As I stated last week, we have to engage with all communities along these lines of equality of opportunity versus equality of outcomes or equity. Truthfully, the best thing that could have happened for the GOP was the selection of Kamala Harris by the Democrats. Notice they are not talking about “threats to democracy” anymore? Harris cannot distance herself from the failed policies of the past three-and-a-half years.

The onus is upon each of us to address these policies.

Those of you who know me, know that I always carry 3×5 cards in my right breast pocket. We all need to do so. We all need to be able to counter the deception and misinformation of the leftists. Do not overburden folks with numbers, but speak as to how those numbers relate to them. Bring everything back to being a “kitchen table” issue under the umbrella of security: economic energy, the border, national, domestic, educational, and freedom. Who wants to be told what type of appliances to own?

In this election cycle, it is clear that the Democrats have chosen to focus on image. We cannot allow another empty suit to lead our nation. As for the whole DEI hire thing, well, it was Joe Biden who said he wanted a Black female for VP and the Supreme Court. Biden could not even remember the name of his SecDef, other than to refer to him as the “Black man.”

Let us remain laser focused on Main Street issues.

Steadfast and Loyal.
