RICHARDSON, TX -- Former Arlington City Councilman Darrell Day has announced a run for U.S. Congress in Congressional District 32, to replace Democrat Colin Allred. “It’s a new Day in CD32," he said.
The Richardson resident kicked off his campaign with early endorsements by 40 GOP precinct chairs and endorsements by four of the six candidates in the GOP primary in 2022, including the winner of the GOP nomination, Antonio Swad. Day ran for the seat two years ago, entering the campaign very late, but still only missed the GOP Primary Runoff by 7.6%.
He described himself as an America-first “faith, family and freedom” advocate grounded in the U.S. Constitution. The CD32 seat is being vacated by Democrat Colin Allred, who announced a run to challenge Senator Ted Cruz.
“My top three priorities in Congress,” Day said, “will be ensuring election integrity, protecting our porous southern border, and bringing runaway government spending under control.”
On election integrity, Day said, “Current electronic systems are vulnerable to hacks by bad actors or by foreign countries. For the sake of national security, we must plug the holes in our system.”
Day also advocates for bringing common sense to Washington’s spending escapades, by implementing zero-based budgeting so that government agencies start at zero in the budget process, and justify their existence and their budget needs. The federal government budget process now starts at the previous year’s budget number and adds from there. “With a $32 trillion national debt, it’s clear that we have a spending problem in Washington, and we MUST address the problem before it puts our country’s economic vitality in jeopardy,” Day said. “We need common sense injected into the process. We need a new Day in D.C.”
Day is a small business owner and Executive Producer of a TV show “Truth Trial” airing on the NOW Network. He has served as a City Councilman in Arlington, TX, as an Election Judge and as a GOP Precinct Chair for eight years in CD32. Day and his wife Ginger have lived in CD 32 since 2002, and he has been active in the community as a neighborhood association president.
